Morticians are Doctors Too

Hey guys! I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer! Since this is the first day since the last post I made that I have had a little time I thought I would give a little insight as to my job at the funeral home 😄

So, in all honesty my job can get a little crazy and as of now, the hours are unpredictable. I've come to the conclusion that Morticians are Doctors too, just for dead people. I work late a lot, come in early, there have even been times where I don't take a lunch because it's so busy or I'll be on lunch and get called to pick up a body. Once school starts I'll be working both graveyard shift from midnight to 8 am during the week and day shift from 8 am to 5 pm on weekends (since I'll be in school a majority of the day Monday-Thursday). It'll get a little crazy with having Pre-Calc and Anatomy [again], but I'm hoping to get some work done during grave when it's a slow night.

Regardless of the things I see on calls, the crazy hours, and the stories I've gained in the few months I've been here, I still love my job. It's super stressful about 90% of the time, but I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I've even had two of my old managers from Applebee's and a few of my old co-workers from there say they've decided they only want me to perform their removals, embalm them, and prep them for their funerals lol.

So that's a brief update on the job and I'll keep posting more as I go along 😊I have tons of stories from on the job, some "supernatural" and some from calls. So if you guys want to read some, I'll post them 😄

I hope you're all doing great, and ready to take on the next semester!

Summer Update

Hello everyone! I hope all of you are having a good summer so far (:

I'm still in the progress of my extension for IS101 (thanks for being so patient Mr. Wu).

So just an update: I'm more than happy to announce that I've finished my job at Applebee's and have kick started my career as a Mortician (: I got the job at Davis Funeral Home last month (with help from the kick ass cover letter and resume Mr. Wu helped me with) and have been there full time. I work currently as a Removal Technician (picking up bodies from hospitals, houses, hospices, and crime scenes) with the Clark County Coroner's Office, as a Prep Room Assistant getting the bodies dressed and ready for the funeral, and as a Funeral Assistant setting up for the funeral and talking to the families. It's been great so far and I'm loving it every day. I've been there a little over a month and a week now so it's taken up all of my time since school ended. They already have me training the new people that have been hired, so it's great being in an environment that realizes your hard efforts. I moved houses too and that's been great (:

Any who, keep cool out there guys! I hope everyone is enjoying their break and stay hydrated (:
