Hey guys! I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer! Since this is the first day since the last post I made that I have had a little time I thought I would give a little insight as to my job at the funeral home 😄
So, in all honesty my job can get a little crazy and as of now, the hours are unpredictable. I've come to the conclusion that Morticians are Doctors too, just for dead people. I work late a lot, come in early, there have even been times where I don't take a lunch because it's so busy or I'll be on lunch and get called to pick up a body. Once school starts I'll be working both graveyard shift from midnight to 8 am during the week and day shift from 8 am to 5 pm on weekends (since I'll be in school a majority of the day Monday-Thursday). It'll get a little crazy with having Pre-Calc and Anatomy [again], but I'm hoping to get some work done during grave when it's a slow night.
Regardless of the things I see on calls, the crazy hours, and the stories I've gained in the few months I've been here, I still love my job. It's super stressful about 90% of the time, but I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I've even had two of my old managers from Applebee's and a few of my old co-workers from there say they've decided they only want me to perform their removals, embalm them, and prep them for their funerals lol.
So that's a brief update on the job and I'll keep posting more as I go along 😊I have tons of stories from on the job, some "supernatural" and some from calls. So if you guys want to read some, I'll post them 😄
I hope you're all doing great, and ready to take on the next semester!
"Morticians are doctors for the deceased", well said! Very glad to hear you love the job Val ^_^ Finishing IS101-3017 is a happy casualty of starting a career in one's chosen field.
ReplyDeleteDidn't one of your IS101-3017 classmate express the same sentiment as your old managers and co-workers from Applebee's? ;-p
